Water Fun
We made the most of our non-moving day and went back to our hotel after our morning outings. Played Game of Life and then had a nap.
Finally decided to go for a walk to the Historic Downtown a few blocks away.
'The St. George Main Street Plaza project includes a 'planter’s row' water feature that combines a modern water feature design with a traditional landscaping feel. The river feature has five waterfalls of various heights that help establish a natural look while combining to create a spring that flows through the plaza.'
As we left the hotel it started thundering and by the time we got to the plaza it was raining a bit. It was our first rain of the trip. Was still pretty warm and not very busy...
'The adjacent splash pad boasts a custom sunburst deck with 256 interactive nozzles that allow for a refreshing retreat from the summer heat.'
All the locals have left because of the rain. This didn't stop our boys...:-)
This meant they had the whole splash pad to themselves!!
We did all these in St George. Eat, Shop, Play and Stay. We really enjoyed our time here.

St George
For the first time in about 2 weeks we are staying in the same place for 2 nights. It meant no packing up and moving after breakfast.
We had no real plans...just had a look around the local parks.
Went to Brooks Nature Park first...only about 3 blocks from our hotel.
'Brook’s Nature Park is an oasis in an otherwise hot and arid environment at the edge of St. George. Centered around scenic Cox Pond, this natural spring was a source of water for the original settlers of St. George and remains the source of a beautiful stream that flows near Main Street in St. George today.'
And then we went up the hill to Red Hills Desert Garden.
'Utah’s first desert conservation garden, the Red Hills Desert Garden in St. George officially opened to the public on May 18th.
The primary focus of the garden is to teach and promote water conservation and landscaping principles, while also offering visitors a chance to learn about the environment of the Virgin River and the six native fish species that populate it.'
Had a wander around the gardens.
We found some small fish and blue dragonflies. The boys then spent the next hour racing blades of grass down the stream.
Next we sent the boys on a treasure hunt through the gardens to find all the signs.
This garden was a good find.
We ran out of daylight way before we were done exploring.
Alex wants to come and live in St George. He feels that he would be able to find fun things to do here for the rest of his life.

After dinner we decided to go explore some more. Found some canyons and rocks on the hill overlooking St George.
